Surendra Rajan
Surendra Rajan is an Indian Painter, Artist, Photographer, Actor and Tracker. He is known for his acting in Bollywood movies such as Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003), Riddle (2005) and The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002).[1] Rajan is retired now and lives in Uttarakhand. [2]
Rajan has worked in many movies and short films. He received the award of best actor in Queens World Film Festival (2011).[3]
Early life and education[edit]
Rajan was born in 1939 in Ajaygarh, District Panna in Madhya Pradesh. His grandparents were prosperous landlords of their village.[2] His family was very close to the royals of Ajaygarh. He was very cusrious to the nature since he was a kid.
After his schooling, Rajan enrolled for a Bachelor of Science course. He did not finish his course and later joined Lucknow Arts College to study art and paintings.[2] He worked as an artist and painter until 1983. He worked for few years in National School of Drama, Delhi in their photography divison. He also worked as an officer on special duty in Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal for some time. [2]
In 2020, during covid 19 lockdown, Rajan got stranded in the Mumbai. Actor Sonu Sood helped him to sent back to his hometown.[4]
Road Trip for 16 years[edit]
In 1983, at the peak of his career in painting, Rajan decided to travel the different parts of the country. He travelled in his fiat car for 16 years in different part of the India. [2]In this time, he captured some beautiful pictures and prepared some great art objects.

Rajan was working as a Art Director for a movie called Pariniti. In this movie he got chance to play a small role. Later he worked in various Bollywood movies and TV commercials. Because of his face resemblance, Rajan has acted as Mahatma Gandhi in various movies and TV series. [2]

He acted as Gandhi in the series ‘The Last Days of Raj’ aired by BBC CH4.[6]
He appeared in Italian movie ‘Indian Nocturne’ and Russian movie ‘The Indian’. He also acted in the Hollywood movie ‘One Night with the King’ where he played the character of a Hebrew priest.[6]
He has been part of many short films, among which ‘The Cabin Man’ grabbed immense international attention. It was screened at 15 different International film festivals.[9]
