Survivor: Winners at War[2][3] is the upcoming 40th season of the American competitive reality television series Survivor, that airs on CBS in the United States and Global in Canada. The season filmed in May–June 2019 and will feature twenty returning winners from previous Survivor seasons.

This will be the eighth consecutive season (a record ninth overall) to be filmed in Fiji.

Production[edit]

The Edge of Extinction twist, introduced in the show's thirty-eighth season, returned for this season with the same rules and premise.[4] This season also became the first season to have the winner receive two million dollars; this is the most expensive prize ever given out in Survivor history.[5]

This season also introduced a new twist using Survivor "currency" that allows players to buy items, food, and advantages. Players on the Edge of Extinction will also be able to earn money, but when they get sent to the Edge, they have to will their money and advantages to another player and start from scratch.[6]

Ever since the second season, the final few contestants received a visit from one family member. This season, every contestant still participating in the game, including those on the Edge of Extinction, will receive a family visit from more than one family member. The only contestants who would not see a family member would be those who raised the flag on the Edge of Extinction and left the game.[7]
