Suzanne Csikos-Nagy (Suzanne C. Nagy) is a Hungarian-American film producer, environmental artist and curator who lives and works in New York City.

Early life and education[edit]

Born in Hungary to a Hungarian father, Dr. Csikós Nagy Béla, a reform economist, a professor and was State Secretary of the Institute of Price and Material and to a Swiss mother, Suzanne spent her childhood in Budapest.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Budapest University. She specialized on international trade and law. She was a student of professor Istvan Nemeskürty class at the Film School and received a diploma in 1977 as a filmmaker, a film producer and a film writer. She also studied art at the Art Students League of New York between 1980-1982.

Career[edit]

Suzanne left Hungary in 1977. She was the representative of the Hungarian film industry, Hungarofilm, between 1978 until 1982. She brought 4 American film productions to Hungary. RHI Entertainment made 3 motion pictures and one CBS production, Reed's Enterprise developed a script called "Life of Hannah Szenes".

In 1982, she formed her own company and entered into a co-production arrangement with the Chicago-based company to produce the film The Predator in Hungary. After the principal photography was finished the production didn’t continue until 2019. Suzanne gained full control over the movie in 1988. She purchased the Grizzly title and its sequel rights in 1990 but her husband became terminally ill and she took over the family gallery and halted the completion of the movie. In 2019, she put the gallery’s collection online and devoted her time to finish the movie under a new title Grizzly II. Revenge, also known as Grizzly II: The Concert. She turned over the sequel rights and the movie to GBGB International and licensed the movie to Gravitas Ventures in 2020. Distribution started in January 2021.

Suzanne C. Nagy is president of Gallery Les Looms and Art Haz Gallery, curating fine art and works on paper between 16th-20th century. She is also managing her online auction house which is in Manhattan New York.

Today, Nagy is also an internationally acclaimed artist as one of the first environmental artists who questioned how unchecked pollution threatens our water, soil, and air quality. Her works mixes traditional art and technology. They stand as poetic contemplations about the environmental consequences of the industry.

Works[edit]

Grizzly II. Revenge (film)[edit]

Formerly called The Predator (also known as Grizzly II: The Concert), it was filmed in 1983 in Hungary by director André Szöts, but was never released to theaters. This is a sequel of the 1976 film Grizzly directed by William Girdler. David Sheldon, the co-producer and writer of Grizzly, wrote the screenplay with his screenwriter wife, Joan McCall. Grizzly II. Revenge was completed in 2020 with a fantastic casting like George Clooney, Laura Dern, Charlie Sheen, Louise Fletcher, John Rhys-Davies, Deborah Raffin, Deborah Foreman, Dick Anthony Williams and Steve Inwood. It also featured live performances by Toto Coelo, Landscape III, and other musicians during a live concert with 50,000 people who was participating in the movie.

A documentary was produced by Suzanne in 2020 called A Brief History in the Making of Grizzly II. Revenge.[1] including facts that during the production, her producer partner disappeared after the first day of the shoot and she was left alone to produce the movie.

A bootleg version from an old VHS cassette was circulating in the early 2000 which was removed before the movie was completed.

Grizzly II. Revenge is a true Hollywood nightmare story and is part of the American film history. Various magazines and websites such as Empire Magazine[2], Variety[3] and The Ringer[4] have released the dramatic story of what really happened and why the film was halted for 37 years. Other articles and movie reviews published are on The New York Times[5], Entertainment Weekly[6], ET Canada[7], The Hollywood Reporter[8], The Daily Beast[9], and Birth.Movies.Death[10]. Grizzly II producer, Suzanne C. Nagy, also did an interview on the film that can be seen on Without Your Head[11] and The Good, The Bad, and The Sequel Podcast[12] on YouTube channel.

The film was first screened at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival[13] on February 17, 2020. Since then, the movie was shown in various film festivals like the Monmouth Film Festival[14], Lisbon International Horror Film Festival[15], Knoxville Horror Film Festival[16], Chicago International Film Festival[17], LA Crime and Horror Film Festival[18], and Popcorn Frights Film Festival[19]

Transparentism[edit]

Suzanne C. Nagy invented Transparentism[20] in 2004. In her artwork she uses a method of creating 3-D, transparent, photographic sculptures to visualize the depth and meaning of pollution.

Transparentism is a product of our digital and technological age.

After documenting the cause of pollution, she started to work on the solution of sustainability.

In 2013, she started to create large-scale 3D light panels, under the series Sustainable Nature Solutions. Her work has been widely exhibited internationally, including The National Museum in Poznan, Ludwig Museum Budapest, Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, Palazzo Guicciardini Bongianni, Art Avenue, New York University, Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast[21] and other institutions and galleries around the world.
