Sven von der Heyden, born on July 3, 1965, is the founder responsible for the entrustment of landmark developments and real estate ventures across almost 20 cities in 8 countries in Europe and the name behind the Von der Heyden Group. Before establishing the Group in 1989, Von der Heyden gained experience as a certified banker and institutional bond trader at institutions such as Dresdner Bank and stock exchanges in London and Munich. At the age of 25, he successfully established diverse businesses in Poland, including setting up the largest fruit importation business in the eastern region of the country and co-founding SEAT’s presence in Poland, a Volkswagen subsidiary nearly forty years on today by setting up the network of 68 distributors throughout this major central European country. 

Business career

Sven von der Heyden's entrepreneurial journey began in the pivotal year of 1989, coinciding with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of communism. He focused on revitalizing old tenement houses in the newly unified Germany and already in 1990 expanded his operations into Poland. Here, the Group achieved significant milestones, including one of Poland’s longest serving public-private partnerships with the City of Poznań, and establishing the corporate headquarters for thousands of employees in key financial entities including the Polish Bank Guarantee Fund, EY, PwC, the Irish Embassy and many other reputable companies.

In 2019, Sven von der Heyden together with the Group’s co-developers Bayern Projekt, completed on their own account with private Investors the €330 million high-rise complex in Einsteinstrasse in Munich, known as “Bavaria Towers”, which was successfully sold in January 2020 at a record price.

Today, the Group is currently undergoing its core development project, the fourth and final phase of Poznań’s financial district scheduled for completion in 2025. Anders Square will be the highest A-class building after Poznań Financial Center, Andersia Tower and Andersia Business Center, which were completed in 2001, 2007 and 2012 respectively.

In 2022, Von der Heyden Group Finance PLC fully subscribed its second 10-year €35 million bond issue in unsecured Bonds maturing in 2032, as well as unsecured notes in 2023, demonstrating the Group's financial strength, trust and stability.

In recent years, Sven von der Heyden spearheaded the establishment of a niche and connected series of exclusive brand experiences in hospitality, real estate and yacht brokerage. Mr. von der Heyden has founded landmark locations under its Cugó Gran brand including a 16^th historic century fortress in Malta as well as a renaissance-hillside villa in Tuscany. Von der Heyden Real Estate has recently launched a boutique holiday venue and homes for Sale, specialized in Italy. These subsidiaries are supported by the Group’s travel, future concierge, and yachting brokerage, enjoyed by a loyal network of esteemed clients around Europe.  

ESG

Sven von der Heyden stands firmly behind the Group’s commitment to sustainability, where Environmental, Social and Governance forms part of its guiding principles. Mr. von der Heyden’s daughter Anuschka von der Heyden, leading Sustainability for the Group, has already made strides with climate change initiatives across its ventures operating from the Caribbean to Europe. Ms. von der Heyden is also responsible for publishing the Group’s first ESG report for 2022, highlighting carbon footprint reduction, and the reduction of energy and water usage by 2030 in line with the European Green Deal. The Group has supported various causes and initiatives in the countries that it operates including the safe relocation of Ukrainian refugees to Poland, safeguarding the habitats of endangered animals across the world through World Wildlife Fund, supporting Terre des Hommes charity for Red Hand Day, participating in volunteer projects such as World Clean-Up Day as well as the establishment of the Valletta soup kitchen in Malta.

Sven von der Heyden has established an investment program of nearly over 650 million, marking the investment volume to Euro 750 million by the end of 2024 with over 200 employees in 8 countries around Europe.

Awards and Recognitions

Mr von der Heyden has won various personal and project awards, including “Personality of the Year 2002” award granted by the readers of Construction Journal Poland, “Preservation of Historical Buildings” award granted to Mr von der Heyden by the Polish Minister of Culture in 2002 and multiple “Building of the Year” and “CEE Best Projects” awards in recognition of projects carried out by the Group over the years.
