Bharat Mata Mandir
Bharat Mata Mandir is a multistorey temple dedicated to Bharat Mata, or Mother India. It was inaugurated by Indira Gandhi on 15 May 1983 on the banks of the Ganges. The temple is adjacent to Samanvaya Ashram and is eight storeys high, with a total height of 180 feet (55 m). Each floor represents a period or aspect of Indian history, from the era of the Ramayana to India's independence.
The first floor houses a statue of Bharat Mata. The second floor, known as Shoor Mandir, is dedicated to notable heroes of India. The third floor, Matru Mandir, commemorates prominent Indian women, including Mirabai, Savitri, and Maitri. The fourth floor, Sant Mandir, features saints from various religious traditions, including Jainism, Sikhism, and Buddhism.
The fifth floor contains an assembly hall whose walls depict the coexistence of India's religious traditions. It also includes paintings representing the history and cultural heritage of various regions of India. The sixth floor is dedicated to different forms of Shakti, while the seventh floor features the incarnations of Vishnu. The eighth floor contains a shrine dedicated to Shiva and offers views of the Himalayas, Haridwar, and the Sapta Sarovar area.
The temple was constructed under the direction of Swami Satyamitranand Giri, formerly a Shankaracharya and Mahamandaleshwar. Following the establishment of the Swami Satyamitranand Foundation in 1998, additional branches were opened in Renukoot, Jabalpur, Jodhpur, Indore, and Ahmedabad.
