Swarna Samsara is a 1990 Indian Kannada-language drama film written, directed and produced by Om Sai Prakash. It stars Anant Nag and Mahalakshmi in the lead roles. Mukhyamantri Chandru, Avinash Yelandur, Sunil Raoh and Anu Prabhakar feature in supporting roles.[1] The plot involves a middle-class office worker (Nag), who encourages his wife (Mahalakshmi) to pursue higher education and a career after marriage, leading to unexpected changes in their family life and relationship.
Plot
Sridhar, a lower-ranking employee at Renu Pvt. Ltd., lives alone and avoids marriage fearing that his modest salary would not be enough to support a family. Through an arranged marriage, he marries Sukanya after she agrees to live within his means. However, wanting her to have a better future, Sridhar encourages her to continue her education and later helps her secure a job at his company, despite criticism from colleagues and neighbours.
Sukanya eventually becomes an administrative officer in the same company, placing Sridhar under her supervision. While Sridhar takes pride in her success, Sukanya becomes increasingly occupied with her work alongside Diwakar, the foreign-returned son of the company owner, Rao. Their professional closeness and Sukanya's neglect of their young son create tension in the marriage. After returning from an overseas business trip, Sukanya is devastated when Sridhar tells her that their son has died from rare disease due to her carelessness, leading to their divorce.
Years later, Sridhar and Sukanya live separately while raising Raja and Munni respectively. Sridhar is a high-ranking officer now, while Sukanya has quit her job. The children become close friends at school and begin questioning the absence of one parent in their lives. Munni eventually learns about her mother's divorce and, with the help of her uncle, sends a legal notice to both parents accusing them of neglecting their children because of their separation.
As tensions rise, Sukanya's parents reveal to Sridhar that Munni is his daughter, born shortly after the divorce, while Sridhar confesses that he had lied about the death of their son Raja in an attempt to punish Sukanya for neglecting the child. Raja overhears the truth and reunites with Sukanya, while Sridhar realises his mistake in separating a mother from her son. The family eventually reconciles and reunites.
