Syaidatul Afifah who is affectionately known as Afifah is the daughter of the couple Badrul Hamidi Gam and Roziah Zahari. She was born on 23 October 1991 in Ipoh, Perak. She is the second child of three siblings.
Career
She started her career as a bowler at the age of 9, where her talent was inherited from her father, Badrul Hamidi Gam. She received early guidance in bowling from her father, who was then a bowler in a hotel company besides working as a hotel manager in Ipoh, Perak. Her father often competed in various bowling tournaments.
Afifah started representing the country as a professional bowling athlete in 2009. On September 3, 2020, she decided to retire from the national squad at the age of 29 after 11 years representing the country. She did not retire completely but just ended her participation in the national team and is still open to becoming a professional bowler as well as ready to compete. She stopped her career in bowling because she wanted to explore new fields including hosting as well as find a career that has a brighter future.
She also wants to be a coach for children at the grassroots level and has plans to set up her own bowling academy to train teenagers under 18 to produce more national bowling players in the future.
