Sydney Scotia
Sydney Scotia (born September 8, 1997) is a Canadian–American actress, dancer, producer, and filmmaker. She is best known for her role as Geneva Hayes in the YTV/Netflix series Some Assembly Required (2014–2016), and has appeared in Crave’s comedy series Pillow Talk (2022–present), the Hallmark Channel movie Our Holiday Story (2024), and the indie horror-thriller Sawtooth Mountain (2024).
Early life
Scotia was born in Rochester, Minnesota, on September 8, 1997. Her parents are originally from Sydney, Nova Scotia, which inspired her name, and she holds dual U.S.–Canadian citizenship.[1] At age ten, she performed in Hong Kong alongside Olympic gymnast Olga Korbut at a dance and gymnastics event.[1]
Career
Television
Scotia gained recognition playing Geneva Hayes, a series regular on Some Assembly Required from 2014 to 2016.[1] In 2022, she joined the cast of the Crave sketch comedy series Pillow Talk as Lydia. Season 2 premiered in August 2023.[2]
Film
In 2024, Scotia starred in the Hallmark Channel film Our Holiday Story, portraying Joanna Ammer.[3][4] That same year, she starred in and produced the indie horror-thriller Sawtooth Mountain, which completed filming in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia.[5]
Personal life
Scotia’s dual citizenship reflects her strong ties to both Canada and the U.S.[1]
