Syed Adil Hussain Shah (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.; died 22 April 2025) was a Kashmiri martyr, tour guide and pony ride operator (also known as pony handler) from Baisaran Valley, Jammu and Kashmir, India.[1][2][3][4]
Death
On 22 April 2025, five terrorists affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF) carried out a targeted attack on Hindu tourists in the Indian-administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.[5][6][7] The assailants killed 26 individuals and injured more than 20 others.[8][9] Syed Adil Hussain Shah attempted to disarm the attackers[10][11][12] but was fatally shot by another assailant.[13][14][15] Shah is remembered as a martyr for his courageous actions, which are credited with saving numerous lives.[16][17][18]
Funeral
On 23 April 2025, one day after Shah's death, it was announced that his funeral would be held in Pahalgam.[19][20][21] The ceremony was attended by hundreds of mourners, including Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah.[22][23] Both Shinde and Abdullah paid tribute to Shah, commending his sacrifice for his people and his country.[24][25][26]
