Sheikh Syed Muhammed Arifuddin Jeelani Noorullah Shah Noori Chishti Qadiri (RA) (Arabic: شيخ السيد محمد عارف الدين الجيلاني المعروف نور لله شاه نوري عليه رحمة) was spiritual leader of Chisti Qadiri sufi order popularly known as Silsila Nooria and 22nd grandson of Ghouzul Azam Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani R. A. Sheikh Syed Mohammed Arifuddin Jeelani is the spiritual successor (Jansheen) of Sheikh Syed Ahmed Mohiyuddin Noori Shah Jeelani Chishti Qadiri (RA), and he was hereditary administrator (Sajjadanashin) of Dargah Hazrat Syed Noori Shah during his lifetime. Sheikh Arifuddin Jeelani born in Dabirpura, Hyderabad, on 21st June 1937 (11, Rabee' al Thani, 1356). His mother, Fatima Begum, hails from a much-revered Qadiri family from Hyderabad as a daughter of Shah Syed Abid Husaini (r), the maternal brother of the famous healer Abdul Hafeez Maysoori (r). He is both Hasani and Husaini from the paternal and maternal sides, respectively. His grandfather, Ghous al-Din Jeelani (r), suggested the name. He was called Arif Pasha when he was a small child and later Jeelani Pasha when he became young. Later in his life, he was variously addressed as Noorullah Shah Noori, Qutub al Mashaikh and Noor al Irfan.[1]
