Biography[edit]

Syed Salahuddin was born in a noble family that is famous for nationalism and patriotism. He is one of the custodians of Digraph (shrine) of world famous Hazrat  Makhdoom Sultan Syed Ashraf Jahangir Samnani where the people come to offer their affectionate respect from all over the world without any difference of any caste, creed or religion. He is the grandson of late Al-Haaj Syed Rafiuddin, a freedom fighter who accompanied Bapu  Mahatma Gandhi and First Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in and in upholding the slogan of  “INQELAAB ZINDABAD” and “QUIT INDIA”. His father late Al-Haaj Dr. Syed Tajuddin, was not only a famous physician but also a renowned social worker and a devoted and immense lover of history and literature who spent lot of time in promoting literary activities and encouraging historians by holding frequent events of getting together with them.

Some unpatriotic and anti-national elements have been active within and outside the homeland since immediately after independence to undermine harmony amongst different components of our composite culture, the route of our national integrity. Very few nationalist personalities have come forward after Bapu and Nehruji to fight the heinous conspiracies to jeopardize the national unity. Syed Salahuddin has always been actively playing his role in promoting national unity and harmonious co-existence by propagating that India is a beautiful bouquet composed of flowers of many different kinds, colours and fragrances and every Indian is part of this bouquet, that our composite culture has evolved and nurtured through an unmemorable period of time that combined  the people from different cultures, speaking different languages, following different faiths, and that our composite culture is unique identity of a nation that stands on a land where two rivers of different nature meet together and become one body that moves to the ocean carrying the message of unity and togetherness and spreading it over the globe.

Syed Salahuddin was very much disheartened and upset over political developments and communal disharmony and wanted to play his role and contribute in struggle for bringing back harmonious atmosphere within and beyond the boundaries of the country. He followed the footprints of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and decided to organize a Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira in Dubai on the same pattern as it is held in Lal Qila, Delhi every year on the occasion of Indian Republic Day.
