Synthia Kaldranalegt Hjarta (born 31 October 1994), known professionally as Synthia Coldheart, is an Icelandic-born, Houston-based singer and songwriter. She is primarily known for her music in the witchcore microgenre and is best known for her genre-crossing fusion of deathcore, symphonic metalcore, and occult-inspired electronic music.
Since the release of her 2026 debut EP Rewrite the Rules, Coldheart has developed a reputation for pairing operatic clean vocals with guttural lows and piercing highs, layered over sweeping orchestral arrangements and ritual-inspired synth textures.
Early life
Coldheart was born in Reykjavík to a classical pianist mother and a marine biologist father. She began studying voice and piano at the at age nine,and later cited her mother's recordings of Hildegard of Bingen and her older brother's Cannibal Corpse cassettes as the earliest influences on her musical identity.
She moved to Houston in 2024 and during this period she began performing at small underground venues under the stage name "Synthia Coldheart," a moniker she has said refers to both "the cold of the north" and "the machine heart of the synthesizer."
Career
2025 - Present: Rewrite the rules
Her debut EP, Rewrite the rules, was worked on throughout 2025 and released in June 2026. The EP's seven tracks plus a remix of her hit "Godmode" established a unique blend of various genres of music in a harmonic display.
Coldheart has begun work on a more sinister album currently titled Lost in the Stars which she has said will be a deeper look at some issues close to her heart which she is excited to express with her unique style.
2024 - 2025: Early work and Godmode
Coldheart self-released her first single, "Godmode," in late 2024 by handing out QR codes and CDs at shows to where she hosted the free track.

Genre and influences
Coldheart's music is most commonly described as a fusion of deathcore, symphonic metalcore, and witchcore - a term she has embraced but did not coin. She has cited Lorna Shore, Nightwish, Chelsea Wolfe, Author & Punisher and Björk as her most direct influences. 
Her arrangements typically combine:
- Downtuned eight-string guitar and djent-adjacent rhythms (programmed rather than performed live in the studio)
- Blast beats and double-kick programming
- Full orchestral arrangements, often self-composed
- Gregorian chant-inspired vocal layering
- Modular synthesizer textures and ritualistic percussion sampled from field recordings
- Guttural vocals from her best friend
Her vocal style spans operatic soprano cleans, deathcore guttural lows, and high shrieks. She has stated that she trained for four years with a classical vocal coach and, separately, with an extreme-metal vocal coach to preserve her range across both styles.
Witchcore
Though the label witchcore has been applied to several artists since 2021, Coldheart is widely regarded as its defining figure. Characteristics associated with the subgenre - as exemplified by her work - include occult and pre-Christian European lyrical themes, orchestral and choral instrumentation over metalcore rhythms, and a visual aesthetic drawing on medieval religious iconography, folk horror, and gothic fashion.
