Syrian/Lebanese Antiguans and Barbudans are Antiguans and Barbudans of Syrian or Lebanese descent, although, may also refer to Arabs.
Nearly all Syrian/Lebanese Antiguans and Barbudans were born in Syria or Antigua and Barbuda.[1]
History[edit]
Despite the low share of the population, Syrian and Lebanese Antiguans and Barbudans are very significant on the island. Most Syrian and Lebanese Antiguans and Barbudans immigrated to the country very recently, in the 1950's. Most of Syrian and Lebanese Antiguans and Barbudans are involved in the import business. One of the largest companies in Antigua and Barbuda, the Hadeed group, is ran by a Syrian/Lebanese family.[2]
The Christian Syrian/Lebanese Antiguan and Barbudan community achieved national attention when the community lit a large Christmas tree in Blue Waters.[3]
Many also have family members affected by the ongoing violence in Syria.[4]
