The Syrian Constitution of 1962 was adopted by Constituent and Legislative Assembly as Syria's permanent constitution after seceding from the United Arab Republic in 1961. It was almost entirely based on the constitution of 1950, with few amendments and changes.[1] It remained in effect only briefly, superseded by the constitutional changes that followed the Ba’ath Party’s takeover in 1963.
