T. Suriavelan
Introduction:
Suriavelan (Born 25 June 1992) is a Director, Actor, Writer and Lyricist of feature films, short films and dramas from Singapore. He directed his full-length feature film in Tamil, Joe: The Black Assassin (1) in 2017, which is the first ever Tamil Feature Film to have a 1000 seater sold out. The film successfully completed 21 days in the Singapore box office and 14 days in Malaysia box office.
He has directed and helmed television series Avathaaram (2), which was announced as the winner of Vasantham Muthal Paarvai. Avathaaran broke viewership records for the year and won hearts of the audience. (3) It was also nominated for 9 categories, including Best Drama and Best Director for Pradhana Vizha 2021, a television award ceremony held in Singapore by MediaCorp Vasantham. Suriavelan was also nominated under the most popular Male Personality Category.(4)
After Avathaaram, Suriavelan directed a 6 part Romantic comedy, an initiative for the stories4sg Singapore. Suriavelan also wrote the storyline, screenplay, dialogues and directed the series Naam (5) and Mitaara.(6) He has also Directed, Featured and wrote the lyrics of YouTube singles Usuraiya Tholaichaen, Sagiyae, Vilagathey and Adi Penne (7), which have received nearly 100 million views. He also sang and wrote the lyrics for a single titled Kannu Rendum.
Early Life & Career:
Suriavelan was born and raised in Singapore to Tamilian parents. He completed his Diploma in Biomedical Engineering at Nanyang Polytehnic in Singapore. He is the Founder and CEO of 360 Entertainment Productions. The YouTube channel is one of Singapore’s highest subscribed channels with nearly 600k subscribers.
He made his acting debut in the Tamil movie Joe: The Black Assassin. The song Saaral Mazhaiyaa in the movie for which he was also the lyricist, captured many hearts and gained acclaim for its poetic lyrics. (8)
He has acted in various TV series like Neeya, Vetri (Season 3), Yaar? (Season 2) which aired on Toggle app and Vasantham, a Singaporean free-to-air television channel owned by Mediacorp.
