T2M URL Shortener, also known as T2Mio, is URL shortening and link management platform. It is privately held and based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada[1][2]. It converts long URLs into short aliases (also called short links) along with QR codes[3], which can be used on social networks, SMS, and email.
T2M URL Shortener is a registered product of Zesle Software Inc, a Canadian corporation headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.[4]
Service[edit]
The company offers a free plan and paid subscriptions models[3]. The company website's homepage contains a form to submit a long URL for converting it to a short URL which may look like https://t2m.one/De5rgX (company's domain with random 5 characters for short alias).
These short links can be edited at a later date to change its destination long URL which means it can redirect to any website URL, even malicious site or spam one.
Technology[edit]
The company uses HTTP 301 signals to permanently redirect short URLs to destination long URLs. This technique is also used when a web page has been permanently moved[5]. This redirection technique can vary based on the user selection while shortening URL such as: HTTP status 301 Moved Permanently, 302 Found, 303 See Other, 307 Temporary Redirect or 308 Permanent Redirect[6]. Selected HTTP redirect code instructs a browser on how to handle the redirection.
Each short URL will have a unique key (also called slashtag) which may be a combination of 0-9 digits, a-z alpha characters or some special characters such as underscore, dash or a dot. Alpha characters are case-sensitive. For example, https://t2m.one/abc and https://t2m.one/aBc both can redirect to two different destination URLs.
