TCX Boots is an Italian manufacturer of motorcycle gear and accessories. The company offers a wide range of road racing and off-road boots, touring and leisure footwear as well as different kinds of free time footwear, including designer footwear for women.[1][2][3]
History
The first pair of TCX motorcycle boots were launched back in 1999, with the launch of the first motorbike footwear with an international patent - the T.C.S. (Torsion Control System). This system allows controlled movement of the foot laterally and longitudinally and protects the ankle from injury.[4][5] TCX became the first company in its sector to introduce the CE Certification (issued at European level by independent bodies) on all its products.[6][7]
TCX was previously known as OXTAR boots, which were manufactured by Jolly Scarpe S.p.A., an Italian company founded in 1982 and headquartered in Montebelluna, Treviso, Italy.[8] Novation S.p.A. purchased OXTAR boots in 2007, rebranding it into TCX Boots, due to a legal action taken by Alpinestars for brand infringement.[9][10] The lawsuit was finally settled at the end of 2006.[11][12]
In 2020, Dainese announced that it acquired TCX, apart from producing boots with its own name. With this acquisition, Dainese has diversified its head-to-toe gear production, after buying AGV, an Italian motorcycle helmet manufacturer, in 2007.[13][14][15]
