TEDxIndianaUniversity is an independent TEDx event held annually in Bloomington, Indiana. Like other TEDx events, TEDxIndianaUniversity obtained a free university event license[3] from TED to hold the conference, with organizers agreeing to follow certain principles[4][5]. In addition to a larger annual event or "conference"[6] with live speakers, TEDxIndianaUniversity regularly holds Salon events[7], smaller events to engage the local Bloomington and Indiana University community in discussions of topics relevant to the community[8].
History
TEDxIndianaUniversity was founded in 2015 by students on the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The co-founders, Ben Brattain and Ari Stoner, originally discussed forming the organization two years prior[9]. “It’s not just about getting students to help organize the event," said Stoner to the Indiana Daily Student, "It’s about starting a creative discussion, a forum, where we can think about important issues and really drive it home on campus and give students a platform and think about how they can change the world.”[9]
