TGVmax
TGVmax is an unlimited travel subscription in France and in Luxembourg for young people between 16 and 27 years old.
On January 25, 2017, SNCF started its new offer for young people regarding TGV and inter-city reservation. This new offer costs 79 euros per month for unlimited free tickets[1].
The possible journeys are from and to Paris, Nantes, Lyon, Lille, Marseille, Deauville, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Rennes, and Luxembourg[2].
This offer was created in the continuity of IDTGV max set up in January 2015. IDTGV max[3] was a 59,99 euros subscription per month for a limited travel. It was not intended for young people but had a huge success with them[4].
Subscription
At the subscription, several documents are required:
- Photocopy of the identity card (identity card, passport and resident permit are accepted, but the driving license is not)
- An ID photo
- Bank account details
Moreover, it is necessary to have a French address for subscribing to TGVmax.
The 79 euros direct debit goes out of the bank automatically every month.
After the subscription, a confirmation email is sent within 48 hours.
Engagement
The Subscription engagement of TGVmax is one year. Nevertheless, after three months from the subscription, it is possible to put an end to the contract, but it costs 15 euros. The cancellation can be done from the client's webspace.
The subscription termination is free after one year of subscription or at the 28th birthday.
In any case, the cancellation of subscription has to be done one week before the end of the current month; otherwise, the next month will be charged.
Reservation
It is compulsory to reserve tickets before the departure of the train. The subscription to TGVmax does not allow travelers to take the train without a ticket.
Specific tickets for this travel subscription are available 30 days before departure. During a ticket search, it is necessary to enter the number that has been assigned at the time of registration. This allows TGVmax tickets at 0 euros to appear on the screen.
Only TGV and inter-city train with compulsory reservation are included in the offer. It is not possible to reserve TER tickets that do not require ticket reservation.
During control on the train, ID card will be required to confirm the identity that is registered on the ticket.
Reservation limitation:
It is possible to reserve a maximum of 6 tickets at the same time. However, only one departure from one city per day is allowed. To summarize, it is prohibited to book two tickets for the same day leaving from the same city, but it is possible to book a return trip.
Correspondence:
In case of correspondence, it is necessary to reserve two different tickets.
Annulment
TGVmax subscribers have to confirm or cancel their tickets 48 hours before train departure. The aim is to make available seats of subscribers who have decided to not travel anymore.
One week before departure, the subscriber will receive an email offering the possibility to cancel or confirm his/her journey. To validate or cancel the journey, the subscriber needs to go on his TGVmax client webspace.
