TV Mirante Chapadinha
TV Mirante Chapadinha was an affiliate to Rede Globo located in the city of Chapadinha, Maranhão. It operated on the channel 7 VHF (analog). Belonged to Sistema Mirante de Chapadinha which controlled the radio station (Rádio Mirante Chapadinha) and its FM signal (Mirante FM Chapadinha), respectively.
History
TV Mirante Chapadinha was founded in 1998 by Humberto Castro,[1][2] first operating on channel 3 VHF. It was the second TV station to be installed in the city after TV Difusora Chapadinha,[3][citation needed] being created by the entepreneur Humberto Castro that had founded Rádio Mirante Chapadinha in August 26, 1992.[4]
The first aired newscast of Mirante Chapadinha was Jornal da Cidade (JCTV),[5] anchored by Léo Oliveira and broadcasted at night.[6]
In the early hours of the June 22nd, 2005, Humberto Castro, the founder of Mirante Chapadinha died.[7] Therefore, Léo Oliveira, his son, took his place as administrator of the group and its companies.[4]
On October 25, 2007, TV Mirante Chapadinha won the Best of the Year award, promoted by Embracept, in the categories "TV Presenter" (nominated through presenter Fabrícia Bogéa), "Telejornal" (nominated through JCTV) and "TV Broadcaster".[8] The broadcaster won again in the same categories in the 5th edition of the award, held in 2008.
On April 28, 2009, at 10h39, Mirante Chapadinha's signal was taken down as to fullfill orders from the judicial system and from ANATEL.
The reason was the lack of a license for channel 3, which was barely listed as an available channel for concession in Chapadinha.[9] According to a statement from the Mirante System of Chapadinha, a request for a license had been pending at the Ministry of Communications for four years. After the suspension, the Mirante System of São Luís filed an appeal to try to reestablish the station's operations, without success.[10]
After a long negotiation with the City Hall of Chapadinha,[11] owner of channels 7 and 9 in the city, TV Mirante Chapadinha returned to the air on December 15, 2009, when the TV Canção Nova repeater left channel 7 and began operating on channel 9 (until then occupied by TV Chapadinha, an affiliate of Band).[12] The station began operating on channel 7 after eight months off the air, repeating the programming of TV Mirante São Luís in full, without showing local programs and commercial breaks.[13]
