TZGZ is a 2019 late night programming block that airs on Saturday nights on Syfy. The block features long and short-form animated programming aimed at adult audiences. The title is explained by the tagline in the block's advertisements: "It comes after Syfy". The letters T-Z-G-Z are each one letter after S-Y-F-Y.[1]
History[edit]
The block launched on April 20, 2019 and originally aired on Friday nights before later moving to Saturday nights in November.[2][3][4] The block originally featured reruns of Futurama and original shorts under "TZGZ Shorts", before later airing Gary and His Demons.
In January 2020, it was announced that the block would later expand to feature more syndicated programming, and announced the block's first original series.[5]
On February 2, 2020, the block aired a special block of programming during the Super Bowl halftime show titled, TZGZ's Half-Baked Half Time Show.[6]
In April 2020, Syfy announced that they were renewing Hell Den, ordering Wild Life and acquiring Dr. Havoc's Diary for the block, as well as buying two pilots.[7]
