Tabbit, also marketed as Tabbit AI and Tabbit Browser, is an AI browser developed by guangnianzhiwai, a team owned by the Chinese technology company Meituan. It entered public beta on 2 March 2026 for Microsoft Windows and macOS.[1][2]
History
guangnianzhiwai announced Tabbit's public beta in March 2026. The product was presented as a consumer-facing application from the team formerly known as Light Year Beyond.[1] Version 1.0 was released on 9 June 2026 and added a memory feature for retaining user preferences and background information.[3]
Features
Tabbit combines conventional web browsing with page-aware chat and an agent mode. A review described the browser as allowing users to reference open tabs, tab groups, bookmarks and local files as context, while its agent can navigate pages, extract information and fill forms. It also provides reusable commands called "Skills".[4]
Reception
In a hands-on test, Zhidx reported that Tabbit misunderstood a request comparing 2026 data with the corresponding period of 2025, instead comparing it with the whole of 2025.[5] Another reviewer reported that an agent task was lost when its task tab was closed.[6]
In March 2026, the developer of the open-source Read Frog project alleged that Tabbit's translation feature had used project code without complying with its licence. Tabbit removed the feature and said it was addressing licensing and open-source compliance. The Read Frog developer later said the issue did not appear to have been intentional.[7][8]
