TabJuice is a Facebook commerce application developed for small businesses. It was initially marketed towards the fashion industry to take advantage of independent fashion brands' strong interest in establishing e-commerce presences.[1] The company is headquartered in San Diego, California and was co-founded by Dylan Whitman and Jeff Church. TabJuice's name is an acknowledgment of the multiple tabs that businesses often create within their Facebook pages. Early adopters of TabJuice included NIKA Water Company and humanitarian apparel company Jedidiah USA. The clothing company saw an increase in overall sales shortly after adopting the application.[2]
Application and Development[edit]
TabJuice uses Facebook for all of its front end interactions, allowing customers to make purchases from a business without leaving Facebook.[3] The application receives transaction information input, but all payments occur through payment gateways such as Authorize.net and PayPal. All communication between third parties, such as payment gateways, are through a 256-bit encryption.
The application was built using a LAMP stack software package and operates as a RESTful API. Its public API allows third party e-commerce integrations, so businesses that already use services such as Magento can use TabJuice as a plug and play Facebook storefront.[4]
