Tabla Maestro Pt. Anil Palit
Pt. Anil Palit was one of the most versatile table players of India. He was born on 23rd October 1942 at Egera, Burdwan, West Bengal. His Initiation into Music was through his mother who was a Dhrupad Singer of the Bishnupur Gharana. Pt. Anil Palit became a disciple of Pandit Kishan Maharaj Kishan Maharajof Varanasi at the young age of 14. Over the next 20 years, he received rigorous train under the Maestro's guidance. He also took lessons from Late Pandit Kanthey Maharaj.
Pt. Anil Palit had exceptional knowledge of all Tala and Layakari and was one of the father figures of Hindusthani classical music.
He was invited to stay in the UK for 5 Months with Leicestershire college of Indian Music under a program to give the demonstration of Indian Classical music as well as to teach the students enrolled with the institution. He was also appointed by the University of New England, Armidale, NSW, Australia as a visiting professor for 3 yrs to teach Indian Classical music.
Pt. Ani Palit was a regular artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan and regularly participated in different programs on TV and Radio.
