Tadas Burgaila
Tadas Burgaila (born 27 February 1990) is a Lithuanian tech-driven entrepreneur and investor. Launched 150+ projects across tech, health, and travel, with the biggest win yet – Kilo.[1]™.
Burgaila is a co-founder and chairman of the board of Kilo, a health technology company that was ranked the second fastest-growing company[2] in Europe by the Financial Times in 2022. Burgaila is also the founder of the venture studio and investment platform Lost Astronaut[3], a co-founder of Unicorns Lithuania[4], Lithuania’s startup association uniting leading founders, and an investor and judge on the television business reality show Shark Tank Lithuania[5].
In November 2025, Burgaila acquired a 62% stake in FK Žalgiris[6], Lithuania’s oldest and most historic football club.
Early life
Burgaila was born and raised in Klaipėda. He began his entrepreneurial activities at a young age and built his first product – an international screensaver website ranked among the top three in its category – at the age of 16[7]. At 18, he hit rock bottom – deep in debt, bailiffs at the door. That crash became his real education. He learned that failure isn’t the end of success – it’s where it begins.
Career
Burgaila launched and participated in more than 150 projects[8] across technology, digital media, health, and travel sectors during the early stages of his career. These ventures were primarily focused on consumer internet products and performance-driven business models.
In 2013[9], Burgaila co-founded Kilo, a digital health company developing subscription-based wellness, nutrition, and mental health products. In 2022, the company was ranked as the second-fastest-growing company in Europe in the Financial Times FT1000 list.
By 2025, Kilo Health reported consolidated revenues exceeding €500 million, and operations spanning North America, Europe, and Oceania. The company’s products have been used by more than ten million users globally. Burgaila serves as chairman of the board[10] and is involved in long-term strategic development, including planned investments in artificial intelligence and expansion through minority stakes in early-stage and Series A companies. Initial investments typically range from €50,000 to €1 million, with follow-on investments of up to €10 million.
Venture capital and startup ecosystem
In 2025, Burgaila co-founded Lost Astronaut, an early-stage venture studio and investment platform. The organization operates in venture building, venture capital, and talent development. As of 2025, Lost Astronauts had developed more than 20 in-house startup concepts and completed over 40 early-stage investments across seven countries, with typical investment ticket sizes ranging from approximately $25,000 to $250,000. Its mission is to back exceptional talent and turn ambitious ideas into scalable companies. Marius Burgaila, the chief executive officer of Lost Astronaut, is Tadas Burgaila’s brother.
Tadas Burgaila is also a co-founder of Unicorns Lithuania, the Lithuanian startup association representing more than 130 technology companies. Through the organization, he has participated in ecosystem development initiatives, policy advocacy, and the international promotion of Lithuania’s startup sector.
Public activity
As a public investor, Burgaila serves as a judge[11] on Shark Tank Lithuania, where he evaluates startup pitches and invests in selected early-stage companies.
Beyond investing, he is one of the idea originators of MVP[12] (Moksleivių Vienaragių Paieška), an entrepreneurship education initiative dedicated to supporting the next generation of founders. The program combines prime-time business TV show in Lithuania with hands-on education in schools, aiming to shape a new mindset around entrepreneurship by introducing startup thinking, practical experience, and mentorship, and helping students develop entrepreneurial skills and build their first business ideas.
He is also a frequent speaker at entrepreneurship and technology events, discussing business scaling, venture creation, and failure-driven learning. His work and commentary have been featured in Lithuanian and international business media[13]
