Takashi Hara (Japanese: 原 昂史) (born 17 December 1984) is a Japanese-born actor, filmmaker, martial artist and teacher.
Early life[edit]
Hara graduated from Meijo University with Bachelor of Agriculture (Agrobiological Resources) and moved in 2009 to study at the Himawari Theatre Acting School specializing in acting, voice training, singing, ballet, Japanese traditional dance, and various martial arts.[1] He worked at the Nissay Theatre and the prestige New National Theatre Tokyo. His martial arts proficiencies include Kendo, Taiko drumming, Chinese styles of martial arts of Wushu, Tai Chi and Xing Yi Quan. In 2015 he learnt traditional Chinese martial arts at the Qufu Shaoling Kung Fu school in China. After Returning to Japan, he won the Wushu championship at Otaku Tokyo in weaponry. In 2016, Hara moved to Sydney to continue as a performing artist.[1]
Career[edit]
Hara is one of the creative producers at Phoenix Eye Pty Ltd, a film & art production company for representing culturally diverse people with managing director Maria Tran.[2] He has produced Cancer Institute NSW commissioned award-winning web series "Breathless",[3] short film projects such as "My Mother The Action Star"[4][5]"Operation Kung Flu".[6][7] [8][9][10] Hara also made/directed/lead a film, "Obsidian".[11] In this film, Hara was awarded Best Actor, Best Editor, Best Thriller, Best Sci-fi short from international film festivals in 2021. Currently incompletion of action feature film Echo 8 (2021).[12]
In 2021, He is commissioned by the National Theatre of Parramatta (NTOP) to deliver the creative development project "HARU & Haru"[13] and PYT Fairfield's "Action Star".[14] Hara was awarded a grant from Theatre Network Australia (TNA) in recognition of his work.[15]
As a workshop facilitator, Hara has worked for NSW Health Refugee, Fairfield City Council, Diverse Arts Australia and The Parks Community Network.[16]
Weekly, Hara hosted a segment on SBS Japanese radio in Sydney.[17]
Hara founded the actors collective "Acting For Mindfulness (AFM)" in 2020 during the pandemic.[18]
In 2021, Hara was selected as a delegate in Australia - Japan Youth Dialogue ( AJYD ) 2021 as an artist to contribute to future relationships between the two countries.[19]
