Tal El Zaatar Airstrip

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Tal El Zaatar Airstrip or Dekwaneh runway is a short, closed, abandoned runway near Tal al-Zaatar Palestinian refugee camp in east Beirut. Because the airstrip is too short, it has no significant military use, hence it is not widely remembered for its military function. Recent satellite imagery show some sort of pattern painted on it.[1]

Its construction dates back to the Lebanese Civil War, and its use dates back also during that time period. After the hostilities of the civil war ended in the 1980s, it was closed and abandoned.[2]

Currently the airstrip has become a popular strolling zone for some local residents [3]
