What would happen if the CNJ Newark Bay Bridge was never demolished, and was still here today? (Alternate history)

If it was never demolished, it would pose a navigational hazard to ships. I think the Coast Guard actually mentioned that.

Also why maintain a bridge what carries an underused rail line?

If it was never demolished, it could've carried the HBLR and extend it to Cranford.
