Tanglewood Games was founded in 2017 by former Epic Games UK engineers Chris Wood and Terence Burns. The company provides Unreal Engine services such as asset pipeline design, performance optimisation, and console certification support.
The studio has contributed to major games including Hogwarts Legacy, Fortnite, Sea of Thieves, and Driver.
In February 2025, Tanglewood Games became one of only 23 Unreal Engine Gold Service Partners worldwide, and the fourth in the UK, recognised for technical excellence and trusted delivery within the Unreal ecosystem.[1]

Leadership
Chris Wood – Co-founder and CEO. A veteran gameplay and engine programmer with over two decades of experience, Wood previously worked at Midway Newcastle and Epic Games UK, contributing to Unreal Engine development and titles including Wheelman and Fortnite. He was a finalist for the "One to Watch" Award at the 2025 Entrepreneurs' Forum Awards.[2]
Terence Burns – Co-founder and CTO. Burns began his career on the Driver series at Reflections before joining Pitbull Studio and later Epic Games UK. He later worked at Coconut Lizard on UE4 console projects. At Tanglewood he leads technical strategy and engine integration.[3]
