She began her career in theater with the dance group Bandança, in 1982, in which she was co-founder and co-director / choreographer, as well as an actress and dancer. In it, she participated in the shows 'Bandança em Contratempo', 'Bandança em... Louqueceu', and 'Bandança em ... Pulso'.[3] In 1984, she participated in her first musical, 'Cândido, o Musical', as actress and choreographer, which was directed by Jorge Fernando, and had some names such as Ricardo Blat, Claudia Jimenez and Marcus Alvisi in the cast. Also with Jorge Fernando, Tania participated in the play Boom (1999), and in the 1994 production of Rocky Horror Show, where, in addition to signing the choreography, she also played the character Columbia, alongside Cláudia Ohana, Tuca Andrada, Marcello Novaes, among others.[4]

She was the resident director of several shows at CIE do Brasil (the current Time For Fun) such as Rent (1999) by Jonathan Larson, Disney Productions' Beauty and the Beast (2002 and 2003), Chicago (2004), where she was also a cover of Velma and Mama Morton, and The Phantom of the Opera (2005 and 2006), which were performed at Teatro Renault, in São Paulo. As a choreographer and associate director, she worked on the Brazilian productions of the Broadway classics, West Side Story (2008),[5] The King And I (2010),[6] Evita (2011),[7] and on the two productions of My Fair Lady (2007 and 2016),[8] directed by Jorge Takla, performed at Teatro Alfa, and at Teatro Santander in São Paulo.

He was responsible for directing the Brazilian montage of the show "Priscilla - Queen of Desert" (2012),[9] performed in São Paulo, at Teatro Bradesco, and the original Brazilian musical "Nuvem de Lágrimas" (2015), together with Luciano Andrey, inspired by the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, with book by Anna Toledo, and songs by Chitãozinho e Xororó, also performed at Teatro Bradesco.[10]

In 2015, Tania was invited to sign the choreographies of "Raia 30", which celebrated the 30-year career of the actress and singer Cláudia Raia, recalling her main works.[11] She also choreographed the biographical musical about Cauby Peixoto, "Cauby! Cauby! Uma Lembrança" (2006 and 2017/2018), starring and directed by Diogo Vilela, performed at the Teatro Municipal Carlos Gomes, in Rio de Janeiro.[12] In 2019, Tania was invited to direct the show "Nelson Gonçalves, Amor e Tempo", which celebrates the 100 years of singer and songwriter Nelson Gonçalves. The show was performed at Teatro Clara Nunes and Imperator, in Rio de Janeiro, and at Teatro Gazeta, in São Paulo.[13]

On television, Tania has already worked as an actress and choreographer in some of the most successful soap operas on TV Globo of the 80s and 90s, alongside the direct Jorge Fernando, such as Guerra dos Sexos (1983), Cambalacho (1986), Que Rei Sou Eu? (1989), Rainha da Sucata (1990), among others. In cinema, she was choreographer and body trainer for the Brazilian version of Disney's hit, High School Musical: O Desafio (2010).[14]

Chicago - The Musical

Tania had her first experience with Chicago in 2004, when she worked on the Brazilian production, performed at Teatro Abril, in São Paulo (currently Renault Theater), where she was understud of Velma and Mama Morton (lived by Danielle Winits and Selma Reis respectively) , in addition to assuming the role of resident director.

In 2007, she was invited to be the associate director of the South Korean production of the show, which premiered in Seoul and marked her start as the associate director of musical productions around the world. Altogether, Tania has already directed productions of Chicago in 12 different countries, including cities such as Mexico City, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Sttutgart, Munich, Copenhagen, among others.[15]

In 2018, Tania was responsible for the West End revival of Chicago, in London, at the Phoenix Theater. The cast featured actor Cuba Gooding Jr as Billy Flynn, known for several films and TV shows as "The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story".[16] In 2020, Tania returned to the country of origin of the show, to direct the North American tour of Chicago.

Her return to Brazil with this show was scheduled for the second half of 2020, at Teatro Santander, produced by IMM and EGG Entretenimento, with Emanuelle Araújo in the role of Velma Kelly[17] and Paulo Szot reprising the role of Billy Flynn, who played the same role in 2019 on Broadway.[18] However, due to the pandemic period on account of COVID-19, its debut was postponed to 2021.

Still in 2020, due to the pandemic period, Tania promoted a project that consisted of historical meetings between actors who played the same character in different productions from 12 countries around the world. These meetings will be available to fans on the #OUTsideINsideOut series on Tania's YouTube channel.[19]
