He serves as the President of the Basan Metropolitan Police Station unit of the BNP in Gazipur and is known for his grassroots activism.

Early life and education

Tanvir Shiraj was born on 18 October 1969 in Gazipur, Bangladesh. He completed his studies at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College, where he was actively involved in student politics. During his college years, he served as the Assistant General Secretary (AGS) of the student body.

Political career

Tanvir Shiraj began his political career in the student wing of the BNP, quickly gaining prominence for his leadership skills. He rose through the ranks to become the President of the Basan Metro Police Station BNP unit.

Under his leadership, the Basan unit has been one of the most active BNP branches in Gazipur, organizing protests and rallies against political oppression. In July 2025, he led a significant rally protesting defamatory campaigns against BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
