Tash Peterson, is an Australian animal rights activist known also as V-gan Booty. She is an advocate for animal liberation and veganism mostly through non-violent disruptive protests and civil disobedience to bring attention to animal rights. Tash states that the purpose of her activism is to bring attention to the "animal holocaust".

Personal life[edit]

Tash was born in 1993 in Melbourne, Australia and she has been dedicating her life to animal rights advocacy throughout the last five years. She has protested in restaurants, butchers, supermarkets, cattle rings, horse racing events and fashion stores such as Louis Vuitton [1]. During her protests she uses the slogan "if you're not vegan, you're an animal abuser" and holds signs to lead people to watch the Dominion documentary which exposes the standard legal practices into how animals are raised for food, clothing, racing and other forms of animal exploitation, which she refers to as the "animal holocaust".

In an interview to News Australia in 2022 Tash revealed that after watching the film Babe at age 3 she didn't want to eat animals anymore [2]. However, her parents didn't allow so and it was not until 2017 that she turned vegan overnight after watching the documentary Food Choices at age 23.

Controversial activism[edit]

Tash's first well known disruptive protest was on Christmas Eve in 2019, where she dressed as a bloodied slaughterhouse worker and stormed through supermarkets playing the sounds of animals screaming for their lives inside slaughterhouses[3]

In February 2020, Tash ran onto the field of the first women's AFL derby in Western Australia, holding a flag with the words 'Right to Rescue' [4] in a later interview[5] to 7 News she mentioned that she did it to be a voice for animals but her actions did ban her from the Optus Stadium for three years[5]

In 2021, Tash went into a KFC restaurant in Melbourne where she poured fake blood onto the floor of the fast food chain. She spoke out phrases such as "KFC murder six week old babies who are shackled by their feet, electrocuted in a bath of water and have their throat slit," for fifteen minutes until Police arrived[6]

One of Tash's most renowned protests to date, was in August 2021 where she entered a Louis Vuitton store nearly naked with what she proclaimed to be her own period blood on her torso. She held a sign which read "I would rather be naked then wear someone else's skin".[7]

In April 2022, Tash was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct as a result of her protest at Louis Vuitton[8] along with another protest in 2020, and later in July she was temporarily banned from all Western Australian liquor licensed premises under the Liquor Control Act[9][10] for the third time in two years.

Early September 2022, in a joint action with PETA in Australia she performed the human-sized meat tray in Sydney[11][12] which consists of people mimicking a meat card box covered in blood. Senior PETA Communications Manager mentioned that “Humans need to realise that while other animals look different to us, they are the same in all the ways that truly matter, and it's time to make the connection and go vegan.”[13]. Later that month in Perth, Tash disrupted the Perth Royal Show, which she claims "glamourises animal slavery, abuse and murder" and locked herself into the fence-line of a cattle judging ring[14]
