Tavara
Tavara is a demon of the night or nightmare in Turkish folklore of the Trabzon region. The creature has a cat-like look[1] and closes peoples mouth and stands on top of them.[2] Victims are only sometimes able to open their eyes, but are not able to move their bodies for 10 to 20 seconds and feel like they are dying because of the pressure.[3] In other parts of Turkey, this creature is known as Karabasan.[4] It visits people who have their lights on while sleeping.[5]
