Taylor Watson (born April 6, 1993), known professionally as Tay Money, is an American rapper, model, song-writer, producer, and stylist based in Dallas, Texas. She was born in Athens, TX and moved to Dallas in 2015. She is best known for her song, "Trapper's Delight," released on her first studio album, DUH! in 2018. In 2019 she released her second studio album, Hurricane Tay, which featured the song, "Bussin." [1]. In 2020 "Bussin" became a viral sensation on the app Tik Tok and reached #41 on the U.S. Viral 50 as of February 9, 2020. [2] Tay is noted for her Southern accent and lisp, which give her songs a unique flair.

Early Life[edit]

Tay was raised on a ranch in Athens, Texas. She was very athletic growing up and started playing softball at age three, as well as basketball in sixth grade. She even played softball for a year in college. She has a cosmetology license and did hair prior to becoming a rapper. She maintains her license because she enjoys doing hair.[3]

Independence[edit]

Tay is an independent artist and plans to stay independent, as of an interview on the No Jumper vlog in January 2020[4]. She recorded her first song, "Lewis & Clark" in August of 2017. It reached 30,000 views within one year of being posted to YouTube. In September of 2017, she recorded her second song, "Na Na," which reached 100,000 views within a year of being posted on YouTube. In February of 2018, she released "MONEYWAY," a remix of Yung Joc's 2006 hit, "It's Goin' Down" and it reached 190,000 views in less than six months.[5]

Features[edit]

In 2019, Tay Money did a song with DaBaby called “Booty.” This is currently her most high-profile feature artist, though she has collaborations with Fredo Bang and YNW Melly.[6]

Tay Money began dating rapper and founder of Lyrical Lemonade, Cole Bennett in 2019.
