Taylor Mackenzie Dickens Hale (born December 31, 1994) is an American model, beauty pageant titleholder and reality television personality. She was the winner of Miss Michigan USA 2021, and Miss Congeniality later that year. In 2022, she was the winner of Big Brother 24, becoming the first black woman to win a season of Big Brother.[1]
Early life
Taylor Hale was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She was raised by her mother, Jeannette Dickens and her father. She studied at George Washington University in Washington D.C., where she majored in organizational sciences with a minor in communication.[citation needed] She competed in pageants in college, placing in the top 15 for Miss District of Columbia 2017.[citation needed] Before fame, she worked as a personal stylist in the West Bloomfield, Michigan area.[2]
Career
While attending college, Hale competed in Miss District of Columbia USA 2017, ultimately being placing in the top 15. Later in her career, Hale was the runner up of Miss Michigan USA 2020 and the winner of Miss Michigan USA 2021.[3] In November, at the national pageant, she was crowned Miss Congeniality.[citation needed] She has worked as a personal stylist since.[4]
Big Brother
From the start of Big Brother 24, Hale was isolated and ostracized by the other HouseGuests, especially the females.[5] This led to controversy, and sparked conversations about the way black people, especially black women, are treated on reality shows and in society as a whole. After she was brought into a new power alliance (the Leftovers), she quickly formed strong personal relationships with many people in the house. She made it to Final 2, where she won over Monte Taylor in an 8-1 vote. She also won America's Favorite HouseGuest, becoming the first person to win both the game and that award.[6]
