Early Life and Education[edit]

Nicholl was born in Garland, Texas, and raised in Royse City, a rural suburb of Dallas. She has a younger sister named Amber, and an unknown paternal half-brother.[3]

Her parents divorced in 2010.[4] Her father is of Melungeon descent, making Taylore half-Melungeon. She has been vocal about her strained relationship with her father after enduring abuse for 17 years of her life and escaping his house. [5][6]

Nicholl was a timid child growing up, revealing in her podcast that writing and theatre helped her find her voice and confidence.[7] Growing up, Taylore starred in various roles in school and community theatre, on stage as well as being a stage-manager. [8] She studied drama in acting classes since 5 years old, moving up to Advanced Placements while attending Royse City High School. Taylore and her cast had an award-winning production of Laura Lundgren Smith's Sending Down the Sparrows for their University Interscholastic League One Act Play competition in 2015. [9]

After running away from home and dropping out three times, Taylore graduated from Woodland Park High School in 2018. [1][2]

In February 2020, Taylore appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where she received a 2020 Hyundai Sonata from actor and comedian Dax Shepard. Many times, Taylore credits his podcast, Armchair Expert for the betterment and development of her life, calling Dax her "surrogate father."[10][11] Nicholl then used the opportunity to create her podcast, Extra..Ordinary with Taylore Nicholl, which she records exclusively in the Sonata.[12]

[15] The episode of Extra..Ordinary titled "Fathers Be Good to Your Daughters" takes listeners through her recollection of living in abuse. [16][17]

Health[edit]

Nicholl has suffered from manic depression, anxiety, disordered eating, and being bullied. Along with these issues, she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder due to her experience with being abused.[18][19] She has frequently talked about fighting with self-harm since she was 9 years old.[20] [21][22]
