TechUK
About[edit]
techUK (formally Information Technology Telecommunications & Electronics Association.[1]) is a UK trade association whic represents 950 UK businesses[2], predominantly from digitally intensive sections. Collectively its members employ approximately 700,000 people, about half of all tech sector jobs in the UK.
Prior to 2013, techUK held the brand Intellect before it rebranded.
Role[edit]
As highlighted in its mission statement techUK aims to: "(a) Ensure that the UK is the best place in the world for technology comapnies (both domestic and foreign owned) to locate and grow (b) Ensure that the full economic potential of technology is harnessed right across the econonmy (c) Ensure that broadly its role is to carry out market development activities and campaign issues highlighted as concerns for the sector.
Structure[edit]
The present CEO at techUK is Julian David[3] who assumed the role in March 2012 and the current president of the Board is Jacqueline de Rojas CBE[4]
techUK is governed by its executive board which is chaired by Jacqueline de Rojas CBE. The board presides over the running of 25 programmes, which are a series of working groups, some of which have their own council structures, and which are built around focus areas within the industry.
