Ted DiNola or Edward DiNola is an American video game designer and programmer. He is part of Meta's Developer Relations Engineering team[1], and was also the lead programmer for Midboss's game 2064: Read Only Memories. He has spoken at events like GDC[2] and Meta Connect[3], and has served as Co-Activities Chair for Indiecade[4].
Biography
Ted was born in Pennsylvania. They studied Physics at Drexel University, but after an internship at Kerberos Productions, enrolled at Full Sail University to pursue a career in game development.
Ted worked for Trendy Entertainment as the Development Director for their mobile games studio, Puppy Punch Productions, and as a programmer for Shadow Health on their "Digital Clinical Experiences™" (DCEs). They then relocated to San Francisco and worked for Zynga and PlayStudios as a social mobile programmer. They became involved with Midboss in 2013, and spent the next two years building 2064: Read Only Memories[5]. Ted departed from Midboss in late 2015, and began working at Funomena on Wattam.[6]
In late 2017, Ted began working for Meta providing technical and design guidance for games targeting the Oculus Rift, and later the Oculus Go and Meta Quest.[7]
Community
Ted is involved in several gaming initiatives. They served as Co-Activities Chair for Indiecade from 2019-2021, and streamed the T With Indies show in the winter of 2021[4]. In April 2022, they created the Mastodon instance PeopleMaking.Games, which hosts several thousand game developers on the fediverse. They are also the founder of Good Darn Karaoke, an events company that hosts karaoke parties for game developers at conferences.
