Development

The first season of Ted premiered to high ratings, creating speculation about a potential season two.[1] In May 2024, Peacock announced that it had renewed the series for a second season, to be released at a later, undisclosed date.[2] Peacock nearly cancelled the season due to high production costs—reportedly around $8 million per episode— but soon reversed the decision.[3] The first table read for the season took place on June 19, 2024, as revealed by cast member Scott Grimes.[4] In January 2025, series creator Seth MacFarlane confirmed that production had wrapped on the season.[5] Following this announcement, Peacock revealed it had ordered another series based on the Ted franchise: Ted: The Animated Series. The aptly-titled animated series was set to star MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg, Jessica Barth, Amanda Seyfried, and Kyle Mooney; MacFarlane, Paul Corrigan, and Brad Walsh were brought on as executive producers.[6]
