Teddy Warria, (born 17 May 1978) is a Kenyan Social Entrepreneur [1][2], Writer, Author, I.C.T Entrepreneur, African Leadership Academy (ALA) Champion and an Investor in The African Youth.
Born at the at the 120 years old Kenyatta National Hospital formerly known as King George VI Hospital located on Ngong Road, Nairobi, Kenya.
Teddy is the son of the late George Edward Warria Aoko Wuod Nyakach (Father) and Wilfrida Atieno Ombodo Warria Nyar Seme (Mother). He is the 10th born of 17 children, coming from the village of Kamnua, Nyabondo plateau, Kisumu, Nyakach Constituency, Nyanza Province in Western Kenya.
Education
Teddy attended Buru Buru Primary School in Nairobi, Kenya and graduated in 1993. From there he went on to Lenana School, Nairobi, Kenya for his Secondary (High School) Education, where he completed his 'O' Levels and 'A' Levels graduating in 1993.
Teddy's higher University Education, Where he attended Bard College a private, liberal arts college in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. With all odds "not on his side as a African Student", Teddy graduated with his Distinguished Scientist Scholar (DSS) in 2004, and did not stop there. Moving on to Woodrow Wilson School of International Affairs affiliated to Princeton School of Public and International Affairs (PPIA) as a Fellowship completing in 2005 under Dean Anne-Marie Slaughter.
Career
Teddy, started his early career in 2010 by Co-Creating the book Mandela Warria Moments: A Tribute on Mandela's Centenary and Beyond by a Young African' as a personal tribute to the first black president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela. In 2011,
Teddy went on into various projects starting with Africa 2.0[3] located in Nairobi, Kenya. As the Founding president and CEO.
At the same time the Co-Creator and Co-Owner Africa's Talking Group Ltd.[4][5][6] which is an IFC Backed Pan African Technology a company that has its headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Established in the year 2010, Africa's Talking Group Ltd has grown its operations in 18 African Countries (Focus Mobile Ltd and SMS Leopard.com) that offers Easy to use a Bulk SMS Service Provider in Kenya, and during this time of Corona, has proved successful and helpful. Moving to Focus Mobile Ltd (Operators of SMS Leopard) as a key founding team member and Co-Creator and Co-Owner.
In 2013, he joined the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN) at The Aspen Institute as the Fellowship. Following that in 2014, he authored the introductory biography of the late Mama Sarah Ogwel Onyango, who was famously known as Sarah Onyango Obama, Grandmother to the 44th president of the United States Barak Obama. In Susan Wakhungu-Githuku's 'Wisdom of the Elders: Personal Reflections of Over 70 Kenyans who Have Lived Through Changing Lives' (Footprints Press, 2014).
That same year in 2014, Teddy was the youngest judge at the Transform Kenya Awards by the Standard Media Group and Deloitte in a panel of judges that was Chaired by Martin Oduor-Otieno, Former Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) CEO. The Awards recognize people and institutions committed to improving the lives of other Kenyans and driving transformation in society through an emphasis on values.
In 2016, Teddy was the Founding Trustee of The Adebisi Babatunde Thomas Entrepreneurship Institute (ABTEI)[7].
Teddy exceeded in bringing the message forward in 2017, as the Co-Founder of Nelson Mandalas Flagship[8][9][10]and with #100Mandelas program, which include Ideas Come To Life, and the Mandela Global Leadership Movement for Change Worldwide. That same year, Teddy Warria was in the first class of eFounders Fellowship: Shaping Champions for the New Economy - A joint initiative by then Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi's United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and Jack Ma's Alibaba Business School in Hangzhou, China.
2019 would be a challenging and busy year for Teddy. Starting of as part of the Advisory Board of The Wellspring Foundation for Education[11], a non-profit focusing on scaling social impact globally and also curates The Castle Gathering held at the prestigious Castello di Segalari, in Castagneto Carducci, Tuscany, Italy. Followed by United World College USA's Bartos Fellow, The Bartos Institute for Constructive Engagement of Conflict (CEC), Montezuma, New Mexico.
Later on he was made a judge for the 100 & Change Competition by the MacArthur Foundation's Lever for Change led by Cecilia Conrad, Ph.D.
2020 in Scotts Valley, California. Joined Hive as a Member, of which is The Global Community for Entrepreneurs, a global community for purpose driven leaders, creatives, entrepreneurs, and innovators with over 3,500 alumni in 130 countries "The Hive". Teddy a member in 2020 at the Hive Global Leaders’ Summit in the 1440 Multiversity, a nonprofit learning destination where energy, discovery and creativity flourish.
That same year appointed Director of the 2020 Emmy Award winning Climate Advocates Voces Unidas (CAVU.org) based in Santa Fe, New Mexico with operations in the American West.
Within the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI), Stanford University. Development and Rule of Law at the (CDDRL).
In late 2020, he was invited by Omar Ben Yedder, Publisher and Managing Director, IC Publications (Publishers of the 'New African') as an Advisory Board member.
He was admitted to Schmidt's Futures Entrepreneur in Residence by Eric Schmidt (Founder of Schmidt Futures, former CEO of Google, Inc. and the former Chairman of Alphabet, Inc). With the purpose to assemble people, listen to their ideas, and follow the best ideas. It’s a people first strategy, in 2020.

Teddy Warria, a beloved Son Of The Nile[12], with his inspiring work and insights into the human condition, is a generous gift from Africa. This poetic and compelling way of storytelling our life and leadership journey beckons us to define our own rich, powerful story of origin – it is soulfully African.
In his engaging and uplifting book Son Of The Nile he demonstrates the African spirit of ubuntu — umuntu, ngumuntu, ngabantu, which translated means “I Am Because We Are”. Gratitude for those that shape us, and a knowingness we are interconnected, the idea of embracing our shared humanity. A powerful reminder in our fragile world today.
Teddy’s creative work and the golden thread of human connection resonates with my upbringing in South Africa, where acknowledging our human interdependence, the humanness of our neighbors, friends, community, and work colleagues is integral to the social fabric of Africa.
As we say in Africa, “it takes a village to raise a child.” But, it also takes a global village, like Teddy’s, to think, act, and lead with courage and excellence. Teddy’s work and story demonstrate the power of how our stories of origin connect us to this extraordinary global village. His "I Am" narrative has defined his leadership story, his quest for each of us to give the world a more human face.
Teddy is completing a hobby venture, Son of the Nile Ventures to support local literature and tourism, EdTech and Entertainment, Sports and Media in Kisumu and across Lake Victoria in Western Kenya.
Personal Life
He indulges in nature conservation, bird watching, hiking, travelling, and listening to all forms of music, including silence, and dances willingly to the beat of an African drum, 'Bul', as he imagines and feels the ebbs and flows of River Nile as a River Lake Nilote from the Swag City of Kisumu.
Apart from his love for nature, Teddy loves his German Shepherd Retriever Mix dog named Samantha and his cats, Snowball and Tiger
