Telemedical

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Whereas, telemedicine is a term which stands literally since 1970's for “healing at a distance” and signifies the use of technology (i.e. phones) to improve patients’ health outcomes by increasing access to care and information, a telemedical was only introduced in 2020 in the course of COVID-19. (1).

Thinking of pharmaceuticals which help patients to deal with the variety of symptoms, Dr. Marquard, a German general practitioner, defined a telemedical as a digital tool, which as a pharmaceutical cannot be prescribed but it helps patients to connect with their health professionals, to learn about the disease management, to access data (images, reports etc.) and to avoid unnecessary hospital treatment through remote monitoring devices. The term telemedical is applicable to diverse variety of tools, including videoconferencing, remote patient monitoring and others.
