History
Ten Cent Wings was founded by Justin Helm, Scott Murdock and Darren Melanson in November of 2000. The group met while undergraduate students at Mount Allison University located in Sackville, NB. At university, the members of Ten Cent Wings studied non-musical subjects: Darren and Andrew were enrolled in Commerce, Justin honoured in Political Science, and Scott pursued a Canadian Studies degree. Prior to the forming of the band, Justin and Scott had been jamming together since 1999. Scott introduced Justin to Darren at a party in October of 2000. Looking to expand, Andrew Kauffmann joined the band in late 2000. Scott Murdock left the band shortly after recording the song "Vice" for Conduct Becoming 2002. After Scott's departure, Ten Cent Wings released their first self-recorded album, "More Than A Nickel" in 2002. The band played at local venues and bars until Darren, Justin and Andrew went their separate ways after graduating university in 2003. Justin and Darren got back together in 2018 to work on material which the band never had a chance to record. The band is scheduled to release their second self-produced album in 2019.
