Terry C. Shulman
Terry Chester Shulman is a veteran historical writer and journalist whose work has appeared in magazines and newspapers including Staunton's The News Leader (where Shulman lived for 25 years), the Richmond Times-Dispatch and in history publications including Civil War Times Illustrated, Blue & Gray, Civil War, and Wild West.[1] A common theme of his writing has been placing local events into a broader historical context, such as his article about a local college lockdown due to a rumored kidnapping by the Dillinger gang.[2]
His 2019 biography Film's First Family: The Untold Story of the Costellos received positive reviews for "chronicling the lives of a showbiz family transitioning from theater to 'moving pictures' at a time when theaters were becoming movie houses".[3]
Shulman now lives in Venice, California but still owns a downtown micro-hotel, The Storefront, in Staunton.[4]
