Tetsuhiro Yagi (八木 哲大 Yagi Tetsuhiro, born April 23, 1992)[1][2] is a Japanese retired professional wrestler known for his time in New Japan Pro-Wrestling as young lion (rookie wrestler).[1]
Early life[edit]
Professional wrestling career[edit]
New Japan Pro Wrestling (2017–2018)[edit]
Tetsuhiro Yagi was trained under New Japan's "young lion" system. Yagi made his New Japan Pro-Wrestling debut at Lion's Gate Project 5 where he lost to Hirai Kawato.[1][3][4][5]
At Dominion 6.11, the team of Yagi, Kawato and Katsuya Kitamura were defeated by David Finlay, Tomoyuki Oka and Shota Umino in a pre-show match.[6][7] At Lion's Gate Project 6, Yagi was defeated by El Desperado.[8] Yagi was defeated by TAKA Michinoku at Lion's Gate Project 7.[9] Yagi picked up his first win in New Japan when he teamed with Tiger Mask to defeat Shota Umino and Jyushin Thunder Liger.[10][11] Two days later, Yagi and Tomoyuki Oka defeated Ren Narita and Katsuya Kitamura.[12] Yagi and Manabu Nakanishi defeated Narita and Yuji Nagata.[13][14] Tetsuhiro Yagi was a participant in the 2017 Young Lion Cup.[15] Yagi fractured his right ulna during the Road to Wrestling Dontaku 2018 tour. As a result he was replaced by Jushin Liger.[16][17] On October 12, 2018, NJPW announced Yagi's retirement due to personal issues and left the promotion.[18][19]
