Thousands of employees and dozens of professional translation teams in Swiss and multinational corporations such as Swiss Life, Migros Bank and the OBI Group use the software.
Product
TextShuttle AI Translation is a software-based solution for automatic text translation between different languages. Its core component is a neural translation system based on artificial intelligence (AI). The software provides machine translations specialised to customer needs by training the generic models with proprietary data such as translation memories (TMs) and terminology databases. Via API, the software can be integrated into any third-party application, such as a computer-aided translation tool, a so-called cat tool. The machine translation systems are also available as translation UI and as Microsoft Office add-ins for Outlook, Word and PowerPoint. The Translation UI, a web application for text and document translations, can also be used as a desktop or mobile app. For the operation of TextShuttle AI Translation, the company offers various hosting options: As a service from TextShuttle's own cloud (SaaS) located in Switzerland, another cloud provider (such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud or similar) or on-premise, in an isolated network on your own hardware.
History
TextShuttle was founded as a spin-off of the University of Zurich and started its business activity in 2017. In 2018, the first machine translation system using neural networks was created. Translation systems became specialised by using customised data, such as translation memories and terminology databases. Since 2020, TextShuttle has also provided generic models. In collaboration with Radiotelevisiun Svizra Rumantscha (RTR), TextShuttle launched, as the first and so far only machine translation provider, a Romansh translation model in 2022. When Romansh is selected as the target language, the text is translated into Rumantsch Grischun, the official language.
