Thumamiyah (Arabic:الثمامية) is one of the Villages of Ḥaʼil Province, with a population of about 3,000 as of 2018.

History & Geography

The town of Al-Thamamiyah is one of the towns in the southern region of Ḥaʼil. It was established by Sheikh Thamer bin Ali bin Fadil Al-Sulaimi when he requested it in 1343 Hijri from King Abdul Aziz. It is located on the riverbanks of Wadi Al-Ramah, where it is located on a longitude (41.12.646) and a latitude (25.58.767) And is about 240 km south of the city of Ḥaʼil, and the town is located east of the Hail-Medina road, about 37 km, by a paved road, and to the east it is linked by a paved road that meets the Al-Nahaitiya Al-Sulaimi road branching from the old Al-Qassim&Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah road.

It is followed by villages and communities, Mashash Thamer, al-Muhair, Basita, al-Musaidiya, al-Salmiya, al-Rakaya, al-Rifa’a, Nasiriya and al-Olaya.

There are a number of governmental and cooperative departments in Al-Thamamiyah, starting from Al-Thamamiyah Center(The Mayor office). There are also government schools in all stages for boys and girls, as well as a health center, the Thamamiyah Charitable Association, an Advocacy and Communities Education Office, a women's department for memorizing the Holy Qur’an, and a heritage museum, and it has Mobile services, Mobily and Zain services. There is also a Jameh Mosque.

Founding of the museum

The local museum was established in the Al-Thamamiyah Center in 1420 AH as a result of the ideas of people who loved heritage and their passion to preserve our original folk heritage and an expression of the contribution of the local community to the history of the Kingdom and its civilizations to document, record, investigate, protect and preserve artifacts.

The museum is located in the center of The Thumamiyah and includes in its flanks many types of ancient heritage exhibits, including those dating back to the Paleolithic era and the era of early Islam, as well as successive eras. The basic structure of the museum is as follows:

The first part: the main museum hall

The main hall consists of glass stands representing all kinds of daggers, swords, knives, sharp tools, spears, arrows and other tools.

The second part

consists of paintings, maps, and manuscripts dating back to before Christ, and some others were written in early Islam.

The third part

contains a display of tools used in the folklore of the Bedouin life, and it consists of the bucket, the saniya, the shop, the standing, the ropes and other tools that are used in irrigation and watering.

The fourth part

contains some ancient coins that were found in some archaeological sites in the region.

The Fifth Part

contains household utensils and utensils such as cooking utensils, Dalal, Mahmas, Anjar, Mhbash and Al Raha

The sixth part

contains fabrics, clothes, furniture, travel, luggage boxes, bird and hunting nests, horse shoes, straps and some other tools that were used during invasions at the time.
