Tharunam is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by Arvindh Srinivasan and produced by Pugazh and Eden under Zhen Studios banner and Arka Entertainments, starring Kishen Das and Smruthi Venkat in the lead roles alongside Raj Ayyappa and Bala Saravanan in pivotal roles.
Tharunam is scheduled to release in theatres on 14 January 2025.

Production
Development
In early June 2023, Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee (2023) fame actor Kishen Das was announced to essay the lead role in Dejavu (2022)[1] fame director Arvindh Srinivasan's romantic film titled Tharunam.[2] Smruthi Venkat was roped in as the female lead in her second collaboration with Arvindh after Dejavu.[3] The film is produced by Pugazh and Eden under Zhen Studios banner[4] along with Arka Entertainments.[5] The technical team consists of cinematographer Raja Bhattacharjee, editor Arul Elango Siddharth, art director Varnaalaya Jagadeesan,[6] music composer Darbuka Siva and stunt choreographers Don Ashok and C Prabhu.[7]
Filming and Post-production
Initially the principal photography was planned to begin by 12 June 2023,[8] but began on 22 June 2023 after a formal puja cermony in Chennai.[9] On 23 October 2023, Kishen announced that the dubbing work has begun[10] and the entire production got wrapped on 30 December 2023.[11]

The soundtrack and background is scored by Darbuka Siva in his second collaboration with Kishen Das after Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee (2022) where the former was also the director of the film.[12] The first single "Enai Neengathe Nee" released on 10 February 2024.[13]

Release
Theatrical
Tharunam is scheduled to release in theatres on 14 January 2025, coinciding with Pongal in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.[7]
