The Army Painter is a company which produces supplies for the hobby of wargame miniature painting. Founded by Bo Penstoft and Jonas Færing in Denmark in 2007, The Army Painter introduced the idea of simplifying and accelerating the process of painting miniatures, by priming the model with a sprayed base colour, adding detail by brush with acrylic paint, and dipping the painted model into a shading medium to highlight detail and preserve the model.

History[edit]

In 2007 Bo Penstoft started The Army Painter from the barn in his back yard. His idea was to make a product which could quickly shade and preserve painted miniatures, a process which could be very time-consuming. He found that by dipping painted miniatures in a thin paint and allowing the models to dry, the paint would dry into the nooks and crannies but leave the raised areas untouched. From his barn, he filled and sold cans of Quickshade.

Over the years The Army Painter diversified and now sells all manner of painting supplies to many countries.
