The Babbling Beaver is a news satire website that irregularly publishes satirical articles anonymously contributed by loyal alumni, faculty, staff, and students of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Strongly believing that no rigidly intolerant ideology merits exemption from scrutiny and debate, The Babbling Beaver is committed to speaking parody to power.
The Babbling Beaver was founded in 2022 by Mitt Castor, who is the pseudonym of an MIT educator. Mitt is a contributing columnist for Minding the Campus published by the National Association of Scholars[1]
The anti-authoritarian humor of The Babbling Beaver pays homage to The Onion, The Babylon Bee, Swift, Voltaire, Twain, Bierce, Mencken, Orwell, Wodehouse, Carlin … and the Scarlet Pimpernel[2]. Likewise, The Flickering Beacon, an anti-authoritarian satirical news source from the University of Massachusetts Boston pays homage to The Babbling Beaver.[3]
