The Betz family mystery

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Betz family became famous when they discovered a large, seamless metallic sphere on their property in 1974.[1]

History[edit]

On May 26, 1974, 21-year-old Terry Mathew Betz, his mother Gerri and his father Antoine, a marine engineer, were inspecting the damage caused by a brush fire that had raged across an 88 acres (36 ha) swathe of woodland that they had recently acquired on marshy Fort George Island, which is nestled just east of Jacksonville, Florida, when they found a metallic sphere in the center of the residue from the fire. The sphere was the size of a bowling ball and weighed in at 22 pounds (10.0 kg). The family took the object home as a souvenir, and soon after, the sphere started to behave in some very strange ways. They noticed that it would react to the sounds of a guitar as it was played, with some notes causing more activity than others. They also noticed that when the sphere was rolled away, sometimes it would act as a boomerang, circle back and stop at the point where it was launched, and other times it would go off in a completely different direction altogether.[2]
